Operating credit
This is a short-term loan (12 months maximum), granted to companies to finance their current assets (inventories, work in progress, accounts receivable, etc.) not covered by working capital.
In the specific case of AFD, this support can extend to 18 months, depending on the specific nature of certain activities.
Medium and long-term loans
Generally, these are loans with a term of more than 12 months, with a maximum of 5 years for medium-term loans and more than 5 years for long-term loans.
At Agency level :
- medium-term loans are for a period of more than one (01) year but not exceeding five (05) years.
- long-term loans are for a period of more than five (05) years but not exceeding seven (07) years.
Interest rate subsidies
An interest rate or loan subsidy is an operation whereby an organization assumes part of the interest paid by a borrower.
Through this mechanism, AFP-PME plans to assume part of the interest rate on loans granted to certain promoters by banks, national funds, financial institutions or decentralized financial systems.
NB: Only projects that are in line with the Agency’s strategic objectives will be eligible for the mechanism.
Honors loans
The “prêt d’honneur” is a zero-interest loan with no personal guarantee. It contributes to the overall financing of the project. It reinforces the project’s credibility with banks and makes it easier to obtain additional financing.
At the Agency, it is mainly intended for entrepreneurs who have distinguished themselves by the innovative aspect of their project, and for winners of national or international competitions promoting entrepreneurship, research and innovation, but who lack the capital to implement an entrepreneurial initiative.
Priming funds
Equipment grants
A capital grant, also known as an investment subsidy, is a financial aid paid by the public authorities (State or local authorities) to finance a company’s investments or fixed assets.
As a public financing structure, AFD implements this type of financing within the framework of national projects or programs, or with partners, with the aim of strengthening the operational capacities of SMEs.
Venture capital
Venture capital is the temporary acquisition of a minority stake in the capital of young companies with innovative or high-growth potential projects, in order to complete the financing and create leverage to obtain additional bank loans.
Through this mechanism, AFD aims to facilitate access to financing for startups, but above all to improve or establish governance that will enable the entity to reach its full potential in the ecosystem.
